Sustainables

Sustainability comes in many forms, and below you'll find the different kinds of sustainable products thebuncoartist has managed to get his hands on so far. Hopefully more will come in the future.

  • Eco-Friendly.
  • OEKO-TEX 100 certified.
  • GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard).
  • GRS (Global Recycled Standard)
  • OCS (Organic Content Standard)
  • PETA-Approved Vegan.

To make it a little confusing some products only check one bullet, while others check them all, but you'll find the information in the descriptions on each of the products, and further down this page you'll find a little more text and descriptions of the different categories and certifications.

But to ease things up a bit, all the products are ranked from +1 - +6 😇 to help you find the right place for you on the thebuncoartist's completely fatuous, but universally recognized Birkenstock index.

  • Eco-Friendly: All of the Eco-Friendly products differ a little depending on apparel type, the in-/outside mixture and the colour, so remember to check the exact mixture under MORE DETAILS under each products, but are generally made of the following 3 combinations:

  • ... either 100% organic cotton.

  • ... or 80-85% organic ring-spun combed cotton and 15-20% recycled polyester.

  • ... or 65% recycled polyester, 35% recycled Airlume combed and ring-spun cotton.

  • OEKO-TEX®: The OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 is a label for textiles tested for harmful substances and not an organic label as such. It sets the benchmark for textile safety, from yarn to finished product. Every item bearing the STANDARD 100 label is certified as having passed safety tests for the presence of harmful substances.

  • GRS: (Global Recycled Standard),: GRS is a full product standard to verify and track recycled raw materials through the supply chain. It also includes processing criteria to prevent the use of potentially hazardous chemicals, and verifies positive social or environmental production at the facilities. The GRS uses the chain of custody requirements of the Content Claim Standard (CCS).

  • OCS (Organic Content Standard): OCS is a voluntary global standard that sets the criteria for third-party certification of organic materials and chain of custody. Only material from certified organic farms (under one of IFOAM’s Family of Standards) is accepted to the OCS. Certification makes sure the identity of the organic content is maintained from the farm to the final product. A professional, third-party certification body audits each stage in the supply chain.

  • GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard): GOTS  is the world's leading standard for textile processing of organic fibers, including ecological and social criteria, supported by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.

  • PETA-Approved Vegan: Products with the PETA-Approved Vegan label must be completely animal product free: that means that no animal substances may be used in production. The product is cruelty free.
